NNC Mini meet-up: knitted beanies and a pouch for Shanny

Our NNC Malaysian friend Shanny, who lives in Switzerland came home for a holiday recently.

A few of us from NeedlesnCrafts (NNC) managed to meet up with her for a second time. This meet-up was for those of us who couldn't meet Shanny during an earlier NNC Stitching Bee.

I was one of the members who couldn't meet her earlier because limpeh had to work at the last minute.

Anyways, a few pictures!

Here's Super Mel crocheting some cupcake key holders. I won't say anything more about what's she doing. I'll let her show you what a wonderful thing that cupcake will be :)

Another main reason for this meet-up; a cross-stitch stash sale!

Here the ladies are looking through cross-stitch patterns for sale sorted by designers.

Oh and there was linen too but I forgot to take pictures.

L-R: Lillie, MW, June

And now they're sorting through threads by colour! Such vibrant shades of red here!

The ladies were literally mahjong-ing the threads around! LOL

And now they're looking at the greens!

And more myriad of colours!

Here's a close-up of the flosses. Pretty!

In between eating, drinking, yapping and catching up there was some Show and Tell from the members.

MW and June holding up an RR they are participating in. I didn't take any close-ups but it was very beautifully done.

And here MW is talking about her try-out Mug Rug piece. NNC is currently running a Mug Rug exchange. I've participated and can't wait to get to it :)

And of course our guest of honour Shanny! She came with her husband and two kids! I really don't know how parents can take two toddlers along with them. How do you handle the kids?? I'll go crazy!!! But that's me digressing.

Here she is holding up a drawstring bag I made for her. From that pretty smile I'm guessing she likes it :)

I pieced together some Japanese cotton, raw linen and gingham print. And I'm proud to say that this is the first bag I actually got the corners to meet! Everything was properly measured for once! :)

Ruined it by putting in some of my lousy hand-embroidery just so it can be a 'proper' Heart of Paul product of course...

Oh and I knitted up beanies for her two boys.

The beanies are knitted up in the round using a circular needle and finished off with double-pointed needles.

Except for the one with the pom-pom because it was too small for the circular.

And I'll sign off this post with pictures of the kids wearing my beanies!

The eldest boy, Owen who looks like a Taiwanese xiao didi with that beanie :) Such a gentleman to let us take photos of him with it on for a while. I know he was a bit uncomfortable because it was warm.

And the youngest boy, Kevin who's soooo cute and all smiles after we put the pom-pom beanie on him :D

It was nice to see you again Shanny! And thanks for letting me knit beanies for your little men!
